Abstract
REDV and RGD peptide sequences were conjugated to hollow microspheres to develop targeted PLA ultrasound contrast agents that enhance imaging. The microspheres were coated with either RGD or REDV peptide sequences that target integrins active in angiogensis, αvβ3 and αvβ5. The microspheres were then shown to bind to human breast carcinoma cells in vitro within 5 minutes. The peptide modified microspheres makes them ideal candidates for targeted imaging.
