  • Abstract
The authors briefly evaluate the performance and utility of a network and archival system in a clinical environment. The system utilizes a token ring configuration with optical image storage and network interface by means of a microcomputer to a 1.5-T magnetic resonance imaging system. Transfer rates from the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system to the interface of approximately 130 kb/s are reported. The configuration is expandable and can accommodate equipment from different vendors and different imaging modalities
