Abstract :
In this paper we propose a design with low-power and distance tracking for both a remote control board and a monitor board for an MP3 player. The design consists of a microprocessor, a GPS module, an RF module, 6 tyco switches and a 2times16 LCD display enabling the user to use all functions. Our remote control board supports the function key of a typical MP3 player with 27 functions. In addition this design detects longitude and latitude outdoors which are received by the monitor board through the GPS and the RF module. The remote control board also receives longitude and latitude. After the monitor board receives the longitude and latitude data of the remote control board, it determines the distance between the two boards and shows this in an LCD display which allows the user to track an MP3 player user at any time. When the GPS can´t detect a signal from a satellite we use the RSSI (Receive Signal Strength Indicator) register in the RF module to measure the distance between the two boards.
