Abstract
Large bandwidth demands such as those of grid computing require the use of an optical burst switching (OBS) network. But this OBS network may be even faster if the OBS control plane is entirely processed in the optical domain. This improvement can be achieved if a method recently tested in passive optical network (PON) systems with OCDMA (optical code division multiple access), is applied to the OBS control plane to perform MPLS (multi-protocol label switching) label swapping employing a new differential OCDMA detection technique and a larger code set, such as inverted Gold set P(y,x).
