Abstract :
This paper presents a methodology for incorporating the wind hourly behavior into operation simulation and transmission planning within a hydrothermal system framework. A wind power model to obtain wind speed time-series for the whole planning horizon is applied based on historical data. A simulation program based on SDDP (stochastic dual dynamic programming) for the optimum operation of a generation-transmission system is used for incorporating the wind energy features and it allowed to carry out the simulations. This research was applied to an existing hydrothermal system; chiefly for evaluating the dispatch of a large wind farm and its impact on both system operation and transmission planning.
