Abstract :
The relationship between oil holdup measured by a U-shaped Coriolis flowmeter and oil volume fraction was studied through both experiments and simulation. A dimensionless coefficient S was defined to quantify the relationship between measured oil holdup and the reference oil volume fraction. The experimental results told us that the value of S presents an interesting inverted U trend as the oil volume fraction increases. When the oil volume fraction is less than 20%, S is less than 1 which reflects the measured holdup is larger than the reference oil volume fraction. As the oil volume fraction increases from 20% to 80%, S is bigger than 1. Eventually, S is near to 1 when the oil volume fraction is larger than 80%.
