  • Abstract
Based on the channel-base current acquired from GCOELD, the characteristics and correlation of return stroke (RS), M component and continuing current (CC) were analyzed. The results indicate that triggered lightning is partly similar to the following process after the first return stroke of natural lightning and upward lightning in the characteristics of RS, M component and CC, and there is a certain correlation between these processes. Between mean amplitude, total duration, transferred charge of M component and duration, transferred charge of CC, the statistical correlation can be found. An interesting result exhibits two different change tendencies between transferred charge of M component and CC duration. RS peak current, transferred charge in 1ms and action integral are also inherently correlative to CC duration. The correlation can be shown as a “restricted zone”. Especially for action integral, restricted zone is clearer.
