Abstract :
The soft output Viterbi algorithm (SOVA) for soft-input/soft-output (SISO) trellis decoding of Reed-Solomon codes is extended into the soft output list Viterbi algorithm (SOLVA). The success of the algorithm in supplying useful soft information on the GF(q) symbol field is demonstrated via simulation results, clearly implying applications of the decoder in the turbo decoding of concatenated RS codes
