Abstract :
A novel method based on fuzzy-set theory, which permits the probability distribution unknown and the data number small, is introduced to overcome the defect of classical statistics. Some concepts including point and interval estimation, optimal level, empirical probability distribution and confidence level are recommended. The performance prediction in the system for application is also investigated. The validity of this method is examined by engineering experiment under the condition of small sample. The confidence level is proved to be higher than 95%.
