Abstract
Progress in communication technology and the Federal Communication Commission´s regulations on the efficient usage of the radio frequency spectrum have directly affected the Land Mobile Radio Communication System (LMRCS) industry. Technology and necessity led to the application of trunking to LMRCS and opened the way for innovative system designs. A design of a general purpose trunking system is presented with its implementation on an existing UHF communication network for a group-oriented organization structure. Features of the implemented system which are improvements over the conventional system are characterized.
