Abstract :
So far, many kinds of distributed multimedia systems have been widely used and multimedia data, including audio and video, are the main data objects to be transmitted over network. The characteristics of multimedia data bring special QoS demand for a distributed multimedia system. In this paper, an integrated performance analysis model PAM for distributed multimedia system is proposed. Based on model PAM, QoS evaluation metrics for the system is researched, and four parameters are deduced to describe the performance of network, destination buffer and multimedia streams. The QoS evaluation metrics can be used to get a comprehensive view of the QoS for a distributed multimedia system.
