Abstract :
In our days the indeterminate increase of claim of bandwidth can be supplied with application of optical transmission networks. The semiconductor laser diodes are the basic elements of these optical networks. This article takes a survey of VCSEL´s and conventional edge emitting lasers characteristics, and measurement. Nonlinear characterization, noise, transmission, DC characteristics and comparison of the different kind of semiconductor lasers are also presented.
