Abstract :
This payer describes the effects of workload on the performance and scaling of AIX Version 4, on the PowerPC 601-based SMP offerings from IBM. Topics of discussion are: lock effects of software scaling and workload components of hardware scaling. Throughput performance measurements and tracking were based on system-level benchmarks from Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) and other industry standard benchmarks.
