Abstract :
In the era of complex embedded systems, the direct interface of system-on-chip devices to the real world demands the use of sensors and their analog supporting circuits. Since the overwhelming majority of physical sensors require some sort of calibration, this paper compares and discusses three digital calibration techniques well suited for integration, in the hope to discover the best one for embedded system applications. The comparison criteria are power dissipation, area, throughput, design time and rate of cost growth with increased resolution. Comparison results of actual implementations are shown and discussed.
