Abstract
The main part of outages in the distribution grid caused by cable terminations and joints has been preceded by a period with internal partial discharges. As a tool for condition based maintenance, a method for on-line periodic discharge measurement based on ultrasound detection of signals emitted from the discharges has been developed. The method has a sensitivity in the 5-50 pC range depending on the design of the termination
