Abstract :
A three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D-FDTD) method is used to construct a new multiband operation of a microstrip patch antenna fed by single small strip. The antenna is constructed once on Duroid structure εr=2.2 and then quartz substrate ε=3.8. The FDTD method is used to calculate the radiation characteristics and input impedance of the antenna. The equivalence principle has been used to transform the time domain components of the near field to the frequency domain spherical components of the far field. The microstrip patch antenna has multiband characteristics with different ratios. Details of the antenna design and simulation results are presented and discussed.
