Abstract :
As one of new sensors, piezoelectric sensor has been gotten more and more interests in various fields such as mechanics, highway traffic, construction, air and sea transportation, etc, because of its special characteristics. The paper discusses the dynamic nature of piezoelectric sensor for measuring strain of structure. A method for low-frequency vibration measurement through dynamic strain measurement based on piezoelectric sensing is presented. The study involves theoretical analysis as well as experimental research on piezoelectric sensors response to dynamic strain. Dynamic response of piezoelectric sensor under different exciting frequency(from 0.1 Hz to 40 Hz)was tested, and experimental results with good precision were obtained. It shows that piezoelectric sensor has the characteristic of high sensitivity, wide frequency-response range and good linearity, which meet the requirement of low-frequency vibration measurement in engineering, and can be used for structure health monitoring.
