Abstract :
Most existing work on handover for mobile cellular networks is based on the assumption that the traffic is uniformly-loaded for every cell, i.e., all cells in the network are equally loaded. In this paper, we present a soft handover scheme for nonuniformly-loaded mobile cellular networks. Bandwidth utilizations (of 2 cells) are combined with signal strength (of 2 base stations) to make a 4-D soft handover possibility surface. Hard decision of handover is finally determined based on the category of multimedia and QoS.
