Abstract :
Establishing a respiratory model and estimating pulmonary elastance of patient is the bases for suitable setting of ventilation conditions. In our recent work, the nonlinear differential equation model of respiration with fuzzy elastance is addressed. In this paper, an ant colony optimization algorithm is proposed to adjust parameters of fuzzy membership functions, and its application to estimate respiratory model with fuzzy elastance is described. Some examples of estimating a patient´s P - V curve by using proposed algorithm in different cases are given to illustrate the usefulness of this algorithm.
