Abstract :
This paper deals with the problem of cell coverage and deployment of a mobile broadband system (MBS). The first part presents some of the measured data collected with the Samba Trial Platform, showing that a reasonable cell size can be achieved with an adequate antenna configuration and with limited output power levels. Moreover a quite good agreement between measured and simulated data, with a ray-tracing simulation tool, is also shown. An alternative to conventional way of generating and distributing the mm-wave frequencies among the base station transceivers (BSTs) is proposed. This technique is based on optical technology
