Abstract :
The analytical expression of symbol error rate of a mobile system W-CDMA uplink is derived as a function of the pilot lengths used for channel estimation and the relative signal level of the control channel to the data channel, assuming frequency-selective Rayleigh fading and pilot symbol-assisted channel estimation; the computational results are presented. The analysis and conclusions help to select the optimum pilot length under a given channel condition and to adopt a suitable control signal level for certain QoS
