Abstract :
Comparison of several decimation/interpolation (D/I) algorithms, and a novel image coding scheme, which is based on DCT with adaptive D/I (ADI), are presented. Through the comparison, the background reason and the superiority of ADI are clarified. It is also shown that the proposed interpolative DCT scheme outperforms the original DCT scheme in bit rate with slightly degraded image quality
