Abstract :
The long-term goals of our research are the creation of a technique for tracking human motion in the CAVETM system and the applications that use this technique. This paper describes a new way of optically measuring three-dimensional positions in real-time for the purpose of human motion tracking in the CAVETM system. Three problems with the optical method, marker tracking in dark places, occlusion, and mistaken marker identification as a result of two markers overlapping in the camera´s field of view, are addressed. The solutions to these problems use the properties of the human body, and we verify the effectiveness of this method
