Abstract
This paper presents the performance analysis of an hybrid filter composed of a passive and active filters connected in series. The paper discusses the principles of operation of the hybrid scheme for current harmonics and displacement power factor compensation. The analysis of the compensation performance is done by simulating a power distribution system energizing high power nonlinear loads and compensated with a typical passive scheme, which is improved with the connection of a series active power filter. Compensation characteristics of the hybrid topology is proved with a 10 kVA experimental setup
