  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Recently, sub-5-fs visible pulse generation based on noncollinear optical parametric amplification (NOPA) has been developed by our group. It enables us to study the dynamics on 5-fs time scale in various materials. We have investigated the detailed dynamics of the vibration of the ring breathing mode in dye molecules, cresyl violet (CV), doped in a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) film by using sub-5-fs pulses. Because the sample has only one strong mode, 590 cm/sup -1/, it is suitable to study the vibrational dynamics excited by the sub-5-fs pulses.
