Abstract
At the end of the last century the growth of interest in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) led to a large number of researches both in industry and research institutes. The WSN is no longer just an alternative being used today even where wire communications are possible. Following, for design efficient WSNs, a great deal of effort is directed to the research of energy models in order to generate accurate sensory characteristics of a wireless network. Requirements and long service life with minimum energy represent the key to implementing new solutions. Criterions for repeating the packets and optimizations of the functional blocks of a WSN node need also to be taken into account. Our work is related to the criterions for choosing the adequate components, before implementation, modeling and simulation of blocks in WSN nodes, from the energy consumption perspective. We also present an application of this model which is a developed wireless pulse-oximeter.
