  • Abstract
    An expert system for designing microwave oscillators with multiple active devices and power combiners with a TM/sub 0n0/ mode cavity has been presented. The structure of the system combining the expert tools and ordinary optimization techniques that should be used during the design process of the microwave oscillators has been described. The system is based on real engineering data. It has a suite of programs for oscillator optimization as well as databases, a knowledge base and supervising program (inference engine). The whole inference engine has been elaborated from the background. By using this system both structural and parameter optimizations can be performed. For the oscillator structure chosen, the following optimization tasks can be performed: maximization of output power generated and minimization of frequency tuning characteristic ripple on a constrained set of parameters.
