Abstract
Various impacts of the combustion process parameters on SO/sub 3/ generation in the steam generator furnace of the 210 MW oil-fired power plant Sisak have been studied by using mathematical modelling via the FLUENT/sup TM/ software package. The results of the simulation show that the excess combustion air of 1.07-1.10 cannot be decreased without modification of other combustion parameters because of soot appearance and increased CO concentration. By increasing the fuel atomising steam pressure, i.e. by decreasing the fuel droplet size to 50 /spl mu/m, the excess air is decreased to 1.035, which represents the upper limit of desired result. Thereby the average SO/sub 3/ concentration in flue gases is about 22 ppm.
