Managing innovation processes in China´s stored program control (SPC) telephone switch manufacturing industry

This article identifies three distinct generations of innovation processes in China´s stored program control (SPC) telephone switch manufacturing industry. The most current innovation process management has leap-frogged from the first-generation to the third-generation process models. Facing rapid technological change, growing customer expectations and increasing competition, Chinese telephone switch manufacturers will have to adopt new management tools from the system integration and networking (SIN) process model. Further innovative efforts will benefit from managing development steps more in parallel, and integrating internal resources with those of external networking partners with the help of electronic communication tools
