Abstract
This paper proposes an approximate method to locate the singular points of a differential-algebraic equation (DAE) power system model as a polynomial function of load changes in the parameter space. Singular points constitute important organizing elements of power system DAE models. Thus it is essential to develop computational methods to locate them. We present a polynomial curve fitting method to obtain singular points as a function of load changes. The proposed approach is implemented into Voltage Stability Toolbox (VST) and simulation results are presented for a 5-bus system
