Abstract
This work is aiming to show certain, important aspects of applying the wavelet transform to signal analysis of ultrasonic measurement systems. The effects of applying three different time-frequency representation techniques (namely correlation, short time Fourier transform, and wavelet transform) to narrow bandwidth signals are examined. The analysis presented leads to the conclusion that in such narrow bandwidth systems all three operations may be practically equivalent to correlation. Results illustrating the above considerations are included
