Abstract
This position paper explores the idea that the blackboard system metaphor can be used to enrich collaborative ACM systems where there is need to mobilize knowledge workers with different areas of expertise for solving a case. Inspired by this metaphor, we outline how blackboards can be perceived both as a snapshot visualization of case folder with goal achievement status across lines of work, and as a coordination mechanism supporting mutual adjustment within and across these lines of work.
