Abstract :
With a growing dispersed generation, for EDF to be able to monitor the distribution network safely, at the lowest cost and with a high supply quality, the distribution control centre (DCC) must know in real-time the level of generation, and, if required, act on these units. This is true not only for the real-time situation (the only item focused on in this paper) but also for the forecast planning. In the paper, the term \´viewable unit\´ is used to refer to a dispersed unit which has a communication link with EDF\´s DCC. The term \´viewable unit\´ indicates that EDF may know in real-time the working generation state (active and reactive power delivered) as well as the state of the network (voltage level), and may act on the unit for safety or operating reasons. The link consists of an electronic meter using the PRISME technology and a remote terminal unit. PRISME meters are used to capture data for voltage, active power and reactive power measurements for DCC. The "customer information" link is used to transmit these measurements to the RTU, which retransmits them to the DCC after processing
