Abstract
This paper investigates the possible applicability of prior knowledge of the signal power behaviour during a power drop. The drop may be induced by a turn around a corner or simply by shadowing. Power drop patterns are derived theoretically and a time-gradient based handover algorithm is proposed. The algorithm extracts most information out of the measured signal pattern to minimise false handover alerts and envisions possible severe power drops.
