Abstract :
A model of the lateral and longitudinal dynamics of a highway vehicle with a time varying velocity is presented. The model describes the motion of the center of mass, the interaction between the tires and the road, and the relationship between the suspension and the pitch and roll motion. A simplified engine model is included to generate the time-varying velocity. A linear time-varying model is developed by linearizing the nonlinear model for a desired velocity trajectory. Simulation results are presented to validate the linear, time-varying model
