Abstract
This paper develops a design algorithm to obtain an optimal digitally implemented controller and its realization. The Fixed-Point blockset of Matlab is used to simulate effects resulting from the finite precision implementation, while a genetic algorithm is employed to minimize a cost function that is equivalent to an H2 norm if the FWL effects are ignored. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by two design examples
