Abstract
A small scintillating fiber camera for space dosimetry was developed. The camera consists of scintillating fiber stack bundled with 0.25 mm square fibers, two image intensifier units whose input windows are 40 mm in diameter and two photomultipliers. Neutrons are identified from primary charged, particles and gamma-rays by observing the three-dimensional tracking images. Neutron dose is estimated by measuring the LET∞ of charged particles produced in the interaction of neutrons with the nucleus in scintillating fibers. The lower energy limit for the identification of protons and electrons is lower than 5 MeV for recoil proton energy. The camera is expected to measure the dose contribution from higher energy neutrons, especially for more than ~10 MeV
