Abstract
A hysteresis Preisach-based numerical model of a reciprocating type GMA (giant magnetostrictive actuator) was established. The problem to calculate Preisach converse model directly was solved in the case of static and quasi static state (K5Hz) because a real-time numerical compensation algorithm was put forward. The results of orientation control experiments on GMA reveal that a PID plus Preisach feedforward compensation control strategy improves the control performance greatly. The maximum error in tracking a 1 Hz varying swing input signal is about third of that obtained using a regular PID controller
