Abstract
One of the most important concerns of networks operators is the expenditures of their networks. The expenditures of any company can be split in two types: capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenditures (OpEx). The former deals with the costs of the infrastructure such as the network infrastructure, the buildings, the installations, bought equipment, etc. The latter deals with the cost related with the use of the network, i.e., network maintenance, network planning, service provisioning, fault reparation, etc. This paper will present the framework for the study of the total cost of the network ownership (TCO). A more detailed description on the business, network planning and accounting/billing processes will be presented
