Abstract
Imaging of moving targets using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a challenging task, due to unknown motion of the targets. In recent years, time-frequency (T-F) methods, based on the Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD), have been proposed to form high resolution image sequences of moving targets. Previously, we analyzed this approach, assuming targets with constant velocity, by deriving an approximate closed-form expression for the point-target response of the WVD-based SAR imaging system. In this paper, we extend our analyses to targets having constant acceleration. Then we address several other issues associated with this WVD-based SAR imaging technique. Simulation results are presented to validate our analysis.
