Abstract :
The production capacity of quarries is constantly increasing. Quarries depths and sizes, complicated engineering-geological conditions of deposits development require modern methods of stabilizing of the quarries and dumps. The bases of research methods of massif mining in quarries include periodic surveying and engineering of geological monitoring of the slopes status, as well as the study of strength characteristics, composition and properties of rocks. They also deal with the study of structural features of mining array, assessment and prediction of geo-mechanic processes, determination of the parameters of slopes stability and development of recommendations on management options of quarry slopes. The problem of stability control of the quarries can be resolved through the integrated approach that includes all components of the solution of problems and issues discussed in the article.
