Abstract
Remote screening has been under consideration for a number of years and draws upon technology solutions already deployed in hold baggage screening. It provides the opportunity for greater utilisation of costly x-ray screening equipment and the associated benefits of faster throughput and reduced operating costs. However, such changes also have a significant impact on other parts of the system. The purpose of the present paper is to explore the impact of introducing remote screening technology to accelerate the flow of bags through the X-ray system using computer simulation of the search comb.
