Abstract
In the last decade, several ultra wideband (UWB) radars assigned for the support of the emergency event solving have been developed. Usually, they provide short-range through wall localization of human beings in 2-dimensional space (2D). However, according to security experts, person positioning not only in 2D but also in 3-dimensional space (3D) is needful. Following this demand, we have focused on through-wall localization problem of moving persons in 3D. In this paper, a new method of moving person localization in 3D based on a simple combination of target methods in 2D will be introduced. Its performance will be illustrated by the results of experiment in which a multistatic UWB radar using one transmitting and four receiving antennas is applied for through wall localization of person moving in 3D height-diverse indoor environment. The obtained results will confirm that the novel method introduced in this paper is capable to provide a good and efficient estimate of the target position.
