  • Abstract
The two main interfaces are the Station Bus and the Process Bus in the smart substation. All IEDs in a bay share the Process Bus network data of SV and GOOSE except the protection IED owe to the dispersion and uncertainty of the network latency and jitter while the Ethernet switches used in series. Point to point connection which called direct sampling direct tripping mode adopted by protection for now to avoid the potential unreliability and insecurity in case of the event happen. According to this situation, two kinds of solutions are given in this paper to make the effective use of the shared network. Perhaps these two methods may give an option to the protection to change its connection mode in the Process Bus. Comparison and analysis between the two kinds of solutions is also provided. This paper could be used as a reference for the switch designation and manufacturing.
