Abstract :
Presents a new algorithm of thyristor controlled reactor loss, the algorithm uses the the average current of thyristor controlled reactor at different conduction angles, rather than using the RMS current flow to calculate losses. The results of new algorithm with the literature [1] recommended computing thyristor controlled reactor loss formula calculation results are very close to the percentage difference does not exceed 3%. This article details the derivation process, not only in theory ensure the correctness of the new algorithm, and validated with an example of the difference between the two. RTDS simulation results verify its correctness.
