Abstract
This paper proposes a new fault location algorithm based on two-phase voltage and current measured at the power system side for unbalanced power distribution systems. Taking single-phase-to-ground fault as an example, the paper elaborates the algorithm for feeders with and without laterals. A simple feeder in power distribution system and IEEE-13 node power distribution system are used as test systems. The effectiveness and high accuracy of the proposed algorithm have been verified through many Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) simulations.
