Abstract
This paper presents a new super harmonic injection-locked oscillator (ILO) which can be used within phase-locked loops (PLLs) and clock and data recovery circuits (CDRs). The new structure with new injection scheme leads to higher frequency and wider locking range. In addition, the circuit works properly even for long runs in the binary sequence input by utilizing an RC circuit. Simulated in 0.18 μm CMOS technology, the ILO consumes 3.6 mW at 20 Gb/s input data rate and features a locking range of 150 MHz.
