Abstract
This paper highlights the RF blocking effect of the Frequency-Domain Multiplexing (FDM) based discovery signal in Device-to-Device (D2D) communications. However, RF blocking effect of FDM based discovery signal resulted in the detection loss when detecting discoveree UEs. The evaluation of the RF blocking effect in terms of the detection loss was provided in this paper. As a treatment, the timing-group assisted resource allocation is introduced to eliminate the RF blocking effect. In the simulation results, we also discovered the coverage expansion with the timing-group assisted resource allocation. On the other hand, the random based resource allocation also showed the advantage of its diversity in some simulation cases.
