Abstract

With the evolution of External USB hard disk, users started to use it in order to save, transfer and backup data, media, software etc.. Besides these known functions, lots of its other functionalities have been hidden to end users. Its benefits and functions are very useful for the IT professionals. It is one of the best substitutes for the CD/DVD media installation source for operating systems as well as other software installation resources. Moreover it can also be used as portable OS itself. This article presents methodology and process how a single external USB hard disk can be booted as installation resources for various operating systems and also can be used as portable operating system itself along with other personal data as mentioned above. In short, this paper describes how various operating systems can be installed from and to external USB hard disk.
