Abstract :
Usually, when the flex-tensional IV transducer works, the vibration in the long-axis direction of shell is with opposite phase to the vibration in the short-axis direction. This will lower the transducer´s effective radiating quality and the electro-acoustic transforming efficiency. In this paper, one method to avoid this phenomenon of flex-tensional transducer IV is introduced. Two pistons are attached to the short sides of the shell. Only the pistons, not the shell, are touched with water. All the results from theoretical analysis, FEM calculation and test show that this method can effectively reduce the transducer´s vibration frequency, and improve the transducer´s electro-acoustic transforming efficiency with unchanged transducer volume (which is 400*280*250 cubic mm). The test results also show that the transducer´s source level can reach 192.2 d B, with the efficiency 22% and the frequency 390 Hz.
